JOLLY LEARNING

What is Jolly Phonics?

Jolly Phonics is a systematic synthetic phonics programme designed to teach children to read and write. Children learn the 42 letter sounds of the English language, rather than the alphabet. They are then taken through the stages of blending and segmenting words to develop reading and writing skills.

THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR

This mini hardcover edition of Eric Carle's classic story begins one sunny Sunday, when the caterpillar was hatched out of a tiny egg. He was very hungry. On Monday, he ate through one apple; on Tuesday, he ate through three plums--and still he was hungry. Strikingly bold, colorful pictures and a simple text in large, clear type tell the story of a hungry little caterpillar's progress through an amazing variety and quantity of foods. Full at last, he made a cocoon around himself and went to sleep, to wake up a few weeks later wonderfully transformed into a butterfly!

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD

Christmas is celebrated around the world and we can perform an activity on this topic with students. Children can work in groups in the classroom. We will assigned a country for which they will have to investigate and make a mural to explain to their peers.

The parts of the work could be this:
-          Where is the country
-          What are the differences of their costumes than the ours?
-           Typical Christmas decoration
-          What things do you like about the Christmas of that country?
-          What things do you not like about the Christmas of that country?

PRETTY RITTY

We have done a Story Telling about Pretty Ritty. Pretty Ritty is a little mouse who founds a gold coin and she decides too buy a very nice laice. Now all of the animals wants to marry her!

We prepared this activity to five-year-old children. We done an activity before telling the story and two more to do after telling the story.

In that story children can learn:  a lot of animals (name, sound and the order of the questions). The storytelling is a good idea to work listening in class. Furthermore, we want to show traditional stories to our pupils.
People of all ages love stories. Children are great fans of stories and love to listen to them. Storytelling literally means reading out stories to them or just telling a story from the memory to them. It is becoming a lost art today as many parents find very little time to spend with kids as the hustle and bustle of life demands them to reserve more time for the needs of life.
